Springtime Troubles: What to Watch Out for with your best mate!

Spring is such a fun time for dogs! After a long, chilly winter, they’re just as excited as we are to get outside and enjoy the warmer weather. But while the flowers are blooming and the sun is shining, spring can also bring a few common health issues for our furry friends. Don’t worry though – with a little extra care, your dog can breeze through the season without a hitch. Here are some things to keep an eye on!

Allergies – Yep, Dogs Can Have Them Too!
Just like us, dogs can suffer from spring allergies. All that pollen in the air might make them itchy, sneezy, and generally uncomfortable. If your dog starts scratching more than usual, licking their paws, or has watery eyes, they could be reacting to the pollen. Check out our Skin & Coat Oil to help ease the itch this spring, and help to reduce inflammation from the inside out!

Pesky Fleas and Ticks
Spring is also prime time for fleas and ticks to make their grand entrance. These little pests love to hitch a ride on your dog, especially if you’re spending more time outdoors. Make sure you’re up to date on flea and tick preventatives, and give your dog a good once-over after any outdoor adventure. No one wants to deal with these creepy crawlies!

Easing Into Activity
With the warmer weather, it’s tempting to dive headfirst into all the outdoor fun, but take it easy, especially if your dog has been a bit lazy over the winter. Too much activity too fast can lead to sore joints or even injuries. Start slow and consider giving them joint supplements to help with mobility – our Bone & Joint Oil containing flaxseed oil, glucosamine, chondroitin and mussel powder, is a great natural option!

Watch That Water Bowl
As the temperatures rise, so does your dog’s need for water. Make sure they always have fresh water available, especially after playing outside. Adding some wet food or even a little broth to their meals can help keep them hydrated too.

By staying on top of these springtime challenges, you’ll help your dog enjoy the season to the fullest – with fewer sniffles, scratches, and pests!
